Jose, a member of Blue Shield of California's Promise Health Plan, was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis and is in need of a lung transplant, a challenge that left Jose and his wife with few options. With the help of Denise, a BSC health advocate, they continue to fight for every day. Denise has worked with Jose to arrange for healthy meal delivery, regular doctor visits and paid family medical leave, amongst other things.

Slow Clap worked with BSC Promise Plan's communications team to identify Denise, part of an experimental new community-based program, and Jose's story, as a quintessential example of BSC's dedicated to community-based solutions for complicated healthcare challenges. We conducted pre-interviews, identified visually compelling aspects of the story, and filmed with the family for two days in the rural part of California just east of Los Angeles. The result is a video story that was featured on Telemundo, and shared and celebrated internally at BSC.
