Cooley LLP was honored for their pro bono efforts helping Ms. Mejia fight the SFPD in court. Ms. Mejia was unlawfully denied language access by the SFPD, and as a result, was briefly held and separated from her children. Her lawsuit will ensure that non-English speakers in San Francisco will have access to a translator and will always be able to communicate with the SFPD in a fair and just way.
