Slow Clap’s Selects: Our Top 5 Motion Graphics Picks

Motion graphics are having a moment.

Not that they ever disappeared—but today, they’re more essential than ever, playing a key role in everything from animated accents to full-length videos. When used well, motion graphics elevate your content: they can express your brand creatively in seconds, help you stand out from the crowd, and turn even complex topics into something engaging, on-brand, and fun to watch. Selecting 5 top motion graphics videos was too difficult, so we selected 6. Here are the results, in no particular order:

Imbue - Leading the AI Revolution

By Slow Clap

It wouldn’t be a listicle if we didn’t put ourselves in the number one spot! But in all seriousness, one recent motion graphics project we’re especially proud of really stands out. We combined a live-action interview with fully illustrated animations, creating a piece that was both visually striking and easy to understand. The result was a fresh, engaging way to explain what Imbue does—balancing creativity with clarity. AI systems can be complex, and this format allowed us to break things down in a way that felt accessible, thanks to the combination of visuals and narration. It hit the mark perfectly.

Google — Welcome to the Gemini era

By Ordinary Folk

Not to boast, but if we had produced this video, there are a few elements we would have approached differently—particularly some of the live-action segments, which feel slightly out of place. That said, as a showcase of motion graphics, this piece truly stands out. The emphasis on movement drives the narrative forward with clarity and precision. The animations and music choice (oh to have the budget to license a Jay Z song…) capture the brand’s energy and tone without overwhelming it — a true masterclass in motion design.

Recology — Back to the Core: A Compost Story

By Skycar Creative for Recology

Sometimes live action has its limits — and that’s where motion graphics step in to do the heavy lifting. This video for recycling company Recology is a perfect example. It takes the seemingly ordinary journey of an apple core and turns it into a compelling narrative about sustainability and environmental responsibility. By combining live-action footage, striking drone shots, and engaging 2D animation, the video clearly and creatively conveys the critical role composting plays in the fight against climate change..

MOPS app — Launch film

By Thomas Gugel

Now this video is in German, one of the few languages the Slow Clap team doesn’t speak, but this speaks to the power of the motion graphics (see what we did there?). You don’t need to necessarily understand everything going on because the imagery and literal motion should carry you through the narrative and this is exactly what this video does. It's simple, slick and despite the language barrier, we understand what is going on— GENIE (genius in German).

Fast. Foldable. Fifteen

By Joseph Sandefur, Savannah College of Art and Design

Now this is a cheat one because it actually isn’t a professional video. A student-created conceptual advertisement envisions Apple's potential entry into the foldable smartphone market. Drawing inspiration from existing foldable technology, the video maintains Apple's sleek and minimalist aesthetic while introducing innovative design elements. It’s a masterclass in brand awareness showing how you can duplicate branding to market a product that doesn’t exist but that feels like it exists and is something that we would buy.

Carbon Capture: Can It Really Fix Climate Change?

iluli by Mike Lamb

This award-winning explainer, recognized at the 2024 Motion Awards, is a powerful example of how motion graphics can take the lead in storytelling—often more effectively than traditional formats. While we might have chosen a different voiceover, the use of bright colors and striking imagery brings clarity and energy to a highly complex subject. MOWE Studio skillfully breaks down the intricacies of carbon capture technology, turning abstract concepts into clear, engaging, and accessible content..
