Capital One

CEO

Background: Capital One was launching a new dashboard product at the financial industry’s biggest annual conference, Money2020, in 2015. They wanted a video to lead into their announcement that would contrast with what the other financial companies were screening. Something that didn’t even mention an innovative new product or technology. Something that reminded everyone what really matters: their customers. And, in this case, Capital One’s Spark Small Business division wanted everyone to know that all small business owners have the same set of frustrations.

Slow Clap worked with Capital One to develop this documentary-style branded video, weaving the business owners’ stories together to connect the dots about their common challenges.

Our Challenge:  We faced many challenges on this project. Logistically, we had to shoot three separate interviews and b-roll in three separate locations spread across the Bay Area in two days, which meant having to work fast, but still make sure the footage looked great. We also needed the interview subjects to be candid, to open up and speak about their frustrations as small business owners. And we needed to cram all these authentic moments into 90 seconds.

Outcome: The video was screened at Money2020 with a splash, helping elevate Capital One’s message and connect with small businesses and potential customers. Internally, the Capital One organization distributed the video company-wide, and we continued our collaborations with Capital One on many future projects.
